Free Microchips & Low-Cost Vaccines!

March 8th, 2012 by AngelDogs

Dog and cat owners, have your pets micro-chipped for free during our clinic on Saturday, March 17, atKriser’s For Your Pet’s All-Natural Life in Valencia. Starting at 10 a.m., we will also offer low-cost vaccinations, including DH2PP, FVRCP or rabies for $10 and rattlesnake for $15, on a first-come, first-served cash basis.

This event is generously sponsored by Margo’s Bark Root Beer, a Los Angeles-based, all-natural soda company that donates 100 percent of its profits to helping shelter pets through non-profit rescues and advocacy organizations.

“One of our goals at Margo’s Bark is not only to help animals in shelters, but to help animals stay out of shelters. Microchips are crucial for pets that get lost to be reunited with their family, rather than end up as a sad shelter statistic,” said co-founder Jessica Youd. “Vaccinations are also important to help keep pets healthy and avoid unnecessary expenses that can be prohibitive to pet owners, who may turn their pet into a shelter if they can’t afford medical care.”

Margo’s Bark will provide refreshing root beer floats at the clinic for just $2 and donate the proceeds to AngelDogs, so come on down a for a tasty treat!

“We’re happy to partner with AngelDogs Foundation and Kriser’s to provide these very important services to pet owners,” Youd said. “There really is no excuse not to get your pet micro-chipped when it’s free and hopefully, the fantastic vaccine prices will be taken advantage of, too.”

Free Microchip & Low-Cost Vaccine Clinic at Kriser’s, 24272 Valencia Boulevard, Valencia, Saturday, March 17, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information, call (888) 504-SPAY or email info@angeldogsfoundation.org.

Microchips WORK! We got another lucky pet home safely today….

December 12th, 2010 by AngelDogs

A phone call just made my DAY!! :) chihuahua

The microchip calls come in to us when pets are lost and scanned for a microchip at the shelter or a vet’s office. There are plenty of people out there that are caring enough to make sure that someone else’s pet gets home!

We look up the information in our database and hook the two parties together so that the cat or dog gets back to their grateful owner.

Once in a while I hear that people don’t want their pets back, and it absolutely breaks my heart. Maybe they gave the pet to someone that wasn’t quite as caring as they were, trusting that this would be a good forever home. We’ve gotten calls from faraway places like Oregon, Colorado, San Diego. How do pets make it so far from home? Every single one of them has a story.

Today we called an owner that was SO excited to hear that his little dog was found. He was absolutely breathless! The dog was 60 miles from home!

That phone call made our day, and was a reminder to tell all of you how wonderful microchips are. Even if your pet’s collar falls off, the microchip is still there, and your pet stands a better chance of making it home safely.

Read about the technology here: http://www.avidid.com/technology/index.html

We hear all kinds of stuff……cancer (the incidence is rare!)…..martians are going to gps my dog and come and get it (really- we DO hear stuff like this!). We hope that this blog convinces YOU to come on down and take advantage of our low cost microchip program.

Ten bucks! Your pet gets a microchip with a FREE lifetime registration. Please call us for more details: 888-504-SPAY (7729)

We’d like to take the opportunity to profusely thank Found Animals Foundation for sponsoring this wonderful program. It’s gotten many, many pets home safe and sound from city streets and shelters.

To honor the memory of Frank Dobesh

December 6th, 2010 by AngelDogs

We’d like to thank Barbara Ferrante  for making a generous donation in Frank’s memory. Barbara is his long time friend and soul-mate, and the owner of Jake’s Steakhouse in Tehachapi, CA.

Frank was a native of Bakersfield, who settled in Tehachapi to enjoy the outdoors. He was known for his kindness to others, good nature, loyalty and enthusiasm for life. Above all, he was respected for his unwavering spiritual and moral compass. He loved animals of any kind.

The donation will be used to help dogs and cats belonging to low income Tehachapi residents that need assistance with spay and neuter.

California Pet Lover’s License Plate

December 4th, 2010 by AngelDogs

Everyone always wishes for more funding for spay and neuter. The California Pet Lover’s License Plate has the potential to make state funding for low cost spay and neuter a reality.

It isn’t reasonable or sane to spend your hard-earned taxpayer dollars to impound and euthanize animals. Our only solution is to attack the problem causing pet overpopulation and unwanted pets at the source by spaying and neutering to prevent the births of unwanted animals.

Most of the people that we speak to in the areas that we provide services WANT to fix their pets. They can’t afford it. Life gets expensive, especially in this economic climate, and pets become a last priority.

After 7,500 pre-orders are received, the DMV will begin the official program, and will start issuing actual plates after the implementation process is complete. The entire process may take 12 months or more based on the rate that pre-orders are received, and the speed at which the DMV implements the program. People who pre-order are guaranteed to receive their plates prior to the general public, and by pre-ordering you lock-in your position as one of the first Californians to display your love of animals and your support for reducing pet overpopulation!

You can help the animals by pre-ordering your CA Pet Lover’s License Plate today!

Feral kitten in a trapLooking for a spot closer to home that will do feral cats at a fair price? We want to help more!

Every other Friday at our Charlie Brown Farms/Littlerock location, we are making room for feral cats.

Included is the spay or neuter, a free rabies vaccination and eartip. We’ll do a microchip free, too, if you elect.

Our pricing is $45.00, and we will, as always, accept vouchers. You may use more than one voucher per cat.

Call us at 888-504-SPAY(7729) for more information.

YOU can help us to help more feral cats by making a donation. The Antelope Valley has plenty of feral cat colonies that would love to have a sponsor to cut their reproductive rate!

Happy Birthday, AngelDogs Foundation!

March 19th, 2010 by AngelDogs

birthd_003sm21

It’s been ONE YEAR since we rolled out, can you believe it?

We’re extremely grateful for every single day that we’ve been able to help people and their pets in the communities that we serve.

We’ve all learned much along the way, and have had our share of challenges.

Being able to provide low cost non-profit high volume spay/neuter to the community is a privilege.

The only way to stop the constant and never-ending influx of pets into the shelters is to spay and neuter your pets. Please be responsible and spay and neuter your pets!

Each donation received helps us keep our prices low and our services accessible in the locations where we are needed. Please give today and help us help MORE pets.

No donation is too little! Ten dollars can help us vaccinate a pet that has never had vaccines!

backwoods-inn1

Well, YAHOO!

We’re adding Santa Clarita to our list of regular locations!

Backwoods Inn is kind enough to host us every other Wednesday in their side parking lot!

Goodness - if you haven’t eaten at the Backwoods Inn, you are missing a great meal, served by some wonderful people! This restaurant is family-owned, and has been part of the community since 1968. Please check out their website: www.backwoodsinn.com. We’ve NEVER had a bad meal there, it’s one of our very favorite, and we LOVE it!

Don’t forget to check out “Chessie” the dauschund’s page! His mom is the Owner/General Manager, and he has a very special job as a therapy dog at a local hospital.

We’re gonna try…..

March 13th, 2010 by AngelDogs

to update the blog with interesting reading material and pictures from our travels on the road.

We help some amazing pet owners, and are really pleased to be able to go the extra mile to help some very deserving pets in need when their owners need a bit of extra assistance.

We’ll post some pictures, too, when we are lucky enough to capture the moment.

So please - stay tuned in with us, and let us SHARE. We love to share, and we’ll give you a real education of what things are really like out there for pets in some of the areas that we service in the middle of an economic recession.
